--Firefighters extinguish brush fire in Anahola on Friday afternoon--
ANAHOLA – Kaua'i Fire Department firefighters responded to a brush fire Friday afternoon that broke out in Anahola.
No injuries were reported. However, four individuals experienced smoke inhalation and were later released on scene.
Shortly before 12:40 p.m. on Friday, firefighters were dispatched to a brush fire reported near Kukuihale Road and Manai Road in Anahola.
Firefighters with the Kapa‘a and Kaiākea fire stations, Tender 1, Rescue 3, Air 1, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, KFD personnel arrived on scene shortly after 12:45 p.m. and discovered a 200-foot by 400-foot area of brush and other materials on fire. Firefighters aboard Truck 8 attacked the head of the fire, Truck 2 and the Battalion Chief assisted the east flank, and Tender 1 and Rescue 3 battled the base of the blaze from Kukuihale Road and Manai Road. Air 1 attacked the head of the fire and later assisted with various hot spots. The fire was under control at 2:20 p.m. and fully extinguished at approximately 3:20 p.m.
One structure was threatened. However, firefighters were staged near the structure to prevent the potential spread of the fire.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
The scene was cleared shortly before 3:35 p.m.
