BREAKING NEWS: Mōlī are back!
Today we had our first confirmed sighting and video of a mōlī (Laysan albatross) on refuge land. More birds are expected to arrive everyday for the next three weeks.
Every November Laysan albatross return to the Hawaiian Islands and atolls in the Hawaiian Archipelago to breed. Coupled birds wait patiently for their mates to return, while singles, approximately three to five years old, come ready to mingle. Most pairs are not successful parents until age 10.
Couples typically lay one egg every other year.
