--Firefighters extinguish brush fire in Līhu‘e Sunday afternoon--
LĪHU‘E – Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters responded to a brush fire Sunday afternoon in Līhu‘e.
No injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged.
Shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, firefighters were dispatched to a brush fire reported near Ho‘olako Street in Līhu‘e.
Firefighters with the Līhu‘e and Kapa‘a fire stations, Air 1, Tanker 1, Rescue 3, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF), and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, KFD personnel arrived on scene at approximately 12:35 p.m. and discovered a 2-acre fire in an open field near Ho‘olako Street.
With the assistance of ARFF, KFD personnel prevented the fire from spreading to homes near Kawili Street. Firefighters later secured the permitter of fire and extinguished it.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
The scene was cleared shortly after 3:20 p.m.
