County of Kaua'i - Notice From Kaua’i Department of Water

--Emergency water service shutdown in Wainiha. 12 customers affected--

12:45 P.M., 11/28/22 (Update) WAINIHA - DOW contractor and crews have completed the first set of repairs to begin to restore water service to some of the customers in the affected area.  During the repairs, personnel discovered that a second portion of mainline repairs are required and is currently underway.  The water service shutdown for the remaining affected customers has been extended for approximately 6 hours, weather permitting.

Additionally, an intermittent lane closure may be implemented as needed on Kuhio Highway, in the vicinity of Ananalu Road to provide a safe work zone for the emergency waterline repairs.

Access to potable water for affected customers continues to be available at the hydrant faucet located near the intersection of Ananalu Road and Anahulu Road.  Customers must bring their own water containers to fill up if needed. 

An update will be provided as soon as new information is received.  Mahalo.

10:30 A.M., 11/28/22 (Update) WAINIHA - DOW's contractor and crews have accessed the damaged mainline and repairs are underway.  Based on initial assessment, water service could be restored to customers within 3 to 4 hours, weather permitting.

9:15 A.M., 11/28/22 (Update) WAINIHA - Work on the complex mainline repairs in Wainiha continues through this morning as DOW contractor and crews work to restore water services to 12 impacted customers as soon as safely possible.  

Potable water access will continue to be available at the hydrant faucet located near the intersection of Ananalu Road and Anahulu Road, until water services are restored.  Customers must bring own water containers to fill up if needed.  

DOW thanks Wainiha customers for their continued patience and cooperation.  An update will be provided as soon as new information is received.  Mahalo.

--6:50 P.M. (Update) WAINIHA - A hydrant faucet providing potable water access to affected customers is located at the intersection of Ananalu Road and Anahulu Road. Please bring your own water containers to fill up as needed.

Due to the complexity of the main break and repairs, DOW has scheduled a specialized contractor to conduct emergency repairs. The contractor will be arriving on island tomorrow morning and will begin repairs to restore service to the 12 affected customers as soon as possible.

An update will be provided when new information is received. Mahalo for your continued patience.

9:40 A.M. (Update) WAINIHA - DOW crews were able to isolate the mainline break to minimize the affected service area and restore water to most customers in the area.  A hydrant faucet or water trailer will be in place to provide access to potable water for approximately 10-12 customers along Kuhio Highway; near the intersection of Ananalu Road, until the complex mainline repairs can be completed.

5:50 A.M. WAINIHA - We received reports of a potential waterline break and no water service on Anahulu Road and Ananalu Road. DOW crews have been dispatched to investigate and will work to restore water service as soon as safely possible.
